We sat down with the Klorane product developer of our new Aquatic Mint Collection, Marie Jezequel, to talk about anti-pollution hair and scalp care for the ultimate shine.
A: We all know pollution is harmful to our health and our skin, but few are aware of the damage it has on our hair and scalp. Pollution can “clog” and damage the hair fiber, leaving hair weighed down, lifeless and dry while the scalp becomes totally congested which can cause premature aging of the scalp and can even speed up hair loss.
A: In collaboration with the renowned Tsinghua University School of Environment in China, the Klorane Botanical Foundation had discovered the exceptional capabilities of aquatic mint, which can clean polluted air and block the development of toxic algae in water. Aquatic mint is the perfect botanical for our collection as it helps to detoxify hair from these pollutants, like it detoxifies nature.
A: An industry first, this patented green extraction technology makes it possible to remove water that serves as a natural solvent therefore extracting a pure sap, while keeping the plant's active molecules. This extraction method also reduces our carbon footprint by 72%, compared to a water extraction method. It has been stamped with the Argent ERI 360° (Eco Responsible Ingredient) Label, which defines an ingredient's level of eco-friendliness.
A: Detoxify, purify and protect hair and scalp from pollution, heavy metals, ozone and cigarette smoke. The scalp can finally ‘breathe’, while hair feels healthy, light and full of shine. The non-stripping, color-safe collection is ultra-gentle for daily use, refreshingly cool and perfect for all hair types.
A: The Klorane Botanical Foundation is committed to protecting the ecosystem of the Cévennes National Park, in the Southwest of France, and helping to detoxify its polluted rivers and wells through phytoremediation, decontamination using plants. Filtration columns with aquatic mint were installed upstream and aquatic mint was planted along the river banks. After a few months, samples of downstream water showed a 17x decrease in pollutants.
The Klorane Botanical Foundation contributes to the preservation of nature. These years of research may, in the future, enable us to clean the environment, naturally.
